Application
The control of noise in industry is very important. There have been sharp increases in worker compensation claims for hearing damage, and legislative, safety and economic requirements make a noise reduction program essential for many industries.

To meet these requirements and to help solve many in-plant noise problems, Kinetics Noise Control manufactures a complete line of acoustical panels which can be quickly and easily assembled to provide complete or partial enclosures for noisy equipment or to provide a quiet office in a manufacturing area. These panels are designed to provide optimum noise control through sound absorption and sound transmission loss. Enclosures can be sized to meet your requirements.

Standard Kinetics Noiseblock STL panels are fabricated with outer skins of 18 gauge galvanized steel and inner skins of 22 gauge perforated galvanized steel. Panels are stiffened with 18 gauge steel channels. Sound absorption is provided by 2.5 to 6 pcf fiber glass or mineral wool depending on the application. Standard panels are nominally 4" thick, but optional 2" and 6" panels are available to meet special requirements. 2" panels are rated at STC 37 and NRC .95, 4" panels are rated at STC 40 and NRC 1.00.

Kinetics Noiseblock HTL panels are designed for applications where more transmission loss is required. The HTL panels are fabricated of a 16 gauge outer skin, a 22 gauge perforated inner skin, 18 gauge stiffener channels and a high mass septum. The 4" thick HTL panels have an STC of 48 and a NRC of 1.00.

Enclosures can be designed with doors, windows, access panels and removable panels. Doors are equipped with heavy-duty hardware and with seals to prevent noise leakage. Window panels are framed and sealed units utilizing 1/4" safety and/or wire reinforced glass. If constant access to the equipment is needed, removable panels can be incorporated in the enclosure design.

Noise Control Curtains

Description
Kinetics Model KNC Noise Control Curtain Enclosures are modular heavy reinforced limp mass vinyl panels or vinyl and quilted fiber glass composites designed to contain noise or to act as a movable barrier between noisy and quiet areas. Kinetics Noise Control Curtain Systems incorporate a self-supporting track which allows the curtain to open for access at virtually any point along the enclosure.

Kinetics curtains are available from 1/2 to 2-1/2 PSF (2.5 to 12.5 kg/m2) surface weight and provide an average increase in sound transmission loss of up to 29 decibels. The systems are typically used for applications where accessibility, toughness, oil and chemical resistance and an attractive appearance are required.

Each curtain panel is furnished with Velcro self-adhering nylon closures along the entire length of each edge and grommets along the top.

Kinetics Model KNC-50C and 100C Clearview Curtains or windows are available where monitoring of equipment is required. Models KNC-50RB and 100RB are light tan reinforced vinyl barriers. Models KNC-50RB and 100RB are light tan reinforced vinyl barriers. Models KNC-50RBQ and 100RBQ have an aluminum-faced, quilted fiber glass absorber on one side to help reduce sound reverberation within the enclosure. Models KNC-50BQQ and 100BQQ are vinyl barriers completely encased with the quilted fiber glass absorber on both sides and are designed where additional absorption and Class A flame and smoke test requirements are needed.

Channel support systems for curtains are 1-5/8" x 1-5/8" (41 mm x 41 mm) 12-gauge rolled channel that can be self-supporting or supported form the ceiling. Curtain panels can be attached to the support system by two-wheel trolly assemblies for movable curtains or fixed to the support system by mechanical fasteners for a non-movable curtain. Standard curtain panels are 48" (1219 mm) or 54" (1372 mm) wide in lengths of up to 20'0" (6096 mm). Kinetics Model KSD strip doors are easily incorporated into Model KNC curtain systems.

Applications
Model KNC Curtain Systems can be used as a partial or complete enclosure around most noise sources. Curtains are especially useful for enclosures around industrial equipment since the enclosure is more versatile and economical than a rigid enclosure. Typical applications include enclosures around punch presses, compressors and pumps.

Specifications
Curtain systems shall consist of panels which meet the specifications and physical properties of the curtain material above. Each panel shall be furnished with Velcro self-adhering nylon closures along the entire length of each edge. Support points at the top of each panel shall be reinforced at grommet locations not more than 12" (305 mm) apart. Support systems for curtains shall be 1-5/8" x 1-5/8" (41 mm x 41 mm) 12-gauge formed channel with associated hardware as designed by Kinetics Noise Control. Entire system shall be Model KNC as manufactured by Kinetics Noise Control, Inc.
